Did you know that what we today know as a
leading car manufacturer, started out way back in 1890, when Sakich Toyoda
invented the wooden handloom? His son, Kiichiro Toyoda went on to create the
non-stop shuttle automatic Toyoda loom. With Kiichiro Toyoda, pursuing his
passion for automobiles, travelled through Europe and USA, his research led to
the establishment of the Automobile Department within Toyoda Automatic Loom
Works, Ltd, in 1933. The rest, as they say, is history. The company, today known
as Toyota Motor Corp, has yet again proven its mettle with the launch of the
completely revamped 2016 Fortuner car.
The SUV not only maintains its aggressive
and solid look, but also boasts impressive off road credentials. The off-road
abilities are staggering, thanks to the four-wheel drive, with low-range
gearing. The Fortuner Saudi
specs include two engine options, the 2.7 L with 4 cylinders and the 4 L V6
engine. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Most markets
offer the four-wheel drive as a standard, but the Saudi markets offer a
two-wheel version as well. The basic features include power windows, driver
airbag, driver knee airbag, front passenger airbag, 4 rear parking sensors,
remote censor door locking, ABS, Engine Mobilizer and Remote Central Locking,
among others.
Fortuner GX2 4*4
This Fortunercar has a 2.7 L 4- cylinder, Dual VVT-I petrol engine that offers 164 HP
and 245 nm of torque. The 7-seat vehicle includes comfortable fabric
upholstery, manual air conditioning, and a 6-speaker stereo FM and AM Radio
with CD Player, AUX Port, USB Port and Bluetooth. This model stands tall on its
17-inch alloy wheels. The diesel variant, GX1 4*4, is available with a 2.4L
engine.
Fortuner VX3 4*4
This automobile is much more powerful than
the GX2, with a 4.0 L, 6-cylinder, VVT-I, petrol engine with 235 hp and 376 nm
of torque on offer. Again, a 7 seater with 18-inch alloy wheels, this vehicle
includes a rear differential lock, automatic climate control, and interior
floor illumination. The interiors have been carefully crafted for comfort and
luxury, with leather seats, leather trimmed shift lever and leather trimmed
steering wheel with a wood grain effect. It has a 7-inch touch screen to add to
the 6-speaker FM radio/CD player with AUX, USB port and Bluetooth. This variant
of the Fortuner car is not available in diesel.
Whichever version of the SUV you choose,
one thing you can be sure of is that it comes with Toyota’s guarantee of
quality and elegance.
