The Toyota Hilux 4X4 Review

Toyota launches a Hilux once in a decade. Waiting 10 years for one of the favourite cars in the market is a long one but it also adds to the buzz around it. The Toyota Hilux 4x4 2016 Dual Cab is expected to be an upgrade at many levels because of the advancements made in the technology over the past decade.

It is one of the best buys simply because of Toyota's name being associated with it. Many new features have been added to the model, including chassis rails, suspension and a pair of new diesel engines. The 2.4-litre engine is more powerful, while the 2.0-litre engine is available only for rear drives. The petrol version comes with 2.0-litre and 2.7-litre engine options.

Safety is another important feature and this vehicle's entry in the market will keep the competitors on their toes.

Here is our full review of the Toyota Hilux 4x4 dual cab.

The first box that Hilux ticks is that of looks. In a time where dual cabs no more look like the traditional trucks, Hilux has managed to stand out. The Hilux has been given a sleek contemporary look that can be a trendsetter for the future.

It sharp lines, striking finish and elegant design make it one good-looking truck, both on and off the road. You can drive through the busy street roads and can also hit the country back roads with equal ease.

The good work done on the outside continues inside the automobile as well, with a design that looks up to trend and apt for the real world. The cabin is much taller and wider and is easy on the eyes. There is a multi-function screen on the dash board, which is easy to use and can be used to view maps or the reversing camera.

Since it is a larger car, there is enough space both to relax and to load luggage. The style also leaves its mark on the buttons and door knobs. Attention has been given to make sure that they are within your reach. Not to forget, the seats are comfortable too.

On paper, it is estimated to produce about 130kW of power along with 450Nm of torque. Both these values are better than the previous models.

Overall, it is more stylish, powerful, smoother and more refined than the previous versions as well as its competitors in the same price range. It should be your dream ride of the year 2016.

Of oily stains and other stories

Are cooking oil and car grease making your clothes unwearable? You’re probably not using the right stain removing products!
The world over, we use various oils in cooking and seasoning our food. A splash of herb oil on our salad, a generous helping of olive oil in our hummus, and with vegetable oil creating the base for a curry, cooking oil enhances the flavour of our food and makes it easier to eat. The oil we ingest also has the ability to lubricate our body’s joints.
But cooking oil can also splash on to your clothes and leave behind an ugly mark. You need not be in direct contact with cooking oil – even the grease dripping off your pizza or burger is enough! Not only does oil cause discolouration on the clothes, it also alters the texture of the fabric. You may not have noticed a tiny dribble of oil on your clothing as you cooked or ate, but when you washed your clothes and dried them, you were puzzled by a strange greyish mark on your clothes. That was caused by a splash of oil.
Even worse are grease stains left behind by car oil. They are dark in colour and quite tough to clean. It would seem like nothing in the world has any effect on them! But if you’re ready to throw in the towel when it comes to grease stains, all hope is not lost yet. You’ve probably not been using the correct stain removal technique!
Here’s how you rid your clothes off grease stains forever:
Do not rinse. Other stains caused by chocolate, grass and ketchup should be rinsed at once, but oily stains do not react the same way with water. Water does not loosen an oily stain as much it loosens other stains.
Blot out the oil. If you spill oil or grease on your clothes, blot it out gently using a tissue paper or a white cotton cloth. Do not rub or you will spread the oil further. Keep blotting till the cloth comes away clean.
Use a stain removing gel. Apply a reliable stain removing gel directly on the grease stain and wait for at least five minutes. The gel gets to work on the stain and begins to lift it out of the fabric. If the stain is large and dried, fill half a bucket with warm water, and soak the garment with a measure of the stain removing gel. You may need to soak the garment for a minimum of one hour.

Wash as usual. Wash the stained fabric in the washing machine. At this stage, the stain will have considerably lightened. Add a measure of the stain removing gel to your clothing load. Once washed, the stain will be eliminated forever.

MENA asset management – your key to successful investing

The MENA region presents its own unique challenges for investors. Hence, the right team of asset managers is required to handle the investment portfolio.

It is an obvious truth that the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region holds tremendous opportunities for growth. Notwithstanding a few recent economic hiccups, the region is set to show commendable development across various industries and business sectors.

It is safe to say that the MENA region will be among the fastest growing economic regions in the world in the next five years. Today, the Governments of the MENA region countries are all set to implement and execute a slew of economic reforms that will catapult them to a high rate of success.

A dominant trend to emerge in recent times is that of an increase in private equity investments in the region. This could be attributed to a large upwardly mobile, young population employed in high paying industries. Also, there is good stability in the markets, leading to higher creation of wealth all around. Thus, an evolution in new businesses and such sectors as education, infrastructure and mining is expected in this region. This is further underlined by higher shares of private equity capital in the region’s overall GDP, with tremendous scope for the future.

Foreign investment is seeing a revival in the MENA markets as well. In recent times, many private equity-owned companies have been snapped up by both domestic and international players, and there have been good results at the stock exchanges. Furthermore, FDI is expected to rise in the coming years with Saudi Arabia opening its already considerably large stock market (worth close to USD 700 million) to foreign investors. The UAE has followed suit by lowering the stock percentage that companies must float in an IPO from 55% to 30%.

With the signs of the MENA markets evolving and maturing in the coming days, it is time for both domestic and international investors to augment their resources by investing in the region’s many industries and businesses.

The best in investment with the right asset management teams

‘Asset management’ has become a dominant theme among many investors’ daily lingo. Investors in the MENA region are putting together a sophisticated portfolio that is backed by research and experts’ inputs. Since investors are constantly in need of market news and trends to make their next strategic decisions, reputed MENA asset management companies are helping investors in a variety of ways.

Rightly recognising that investors can bring about the best in the MENA region in the coming days, these MENA asset management teams are helping investors get exposure to global investment solutions. They combine their extensive knowledge in asset management to help investors get both short term and long term gains, across such sectors as investment products, alternative investments and investment advisory, among others.

Dubai's Real Estate Market is Poised to Surge

There is no doubt that Dubai is one of the most sought after residential destinations in the world. The highly advanced city offers a high standard of living to its residents and that is why the housing market here reached its peak in 2013, opening its doors to more real estate developers in Dubai.

However, with some of the major tourist destinations in the Middle East, like Cairo, coming into the limelight in recent years, a huge setback was seen in the growth of the housing industry in the city. The impact of the Brexit was also felt by the property market here, with a drop of 8% in the traffic from the UK.

The Revival

The first quarter of 2016, however, saw Dubai's real estate market getting back on its feet. The city's safe haven status and world-class hospitality led to 1% quarter-on-quarter growth in the overall sales of real estate here, according to research by Core Savills.

The second quarter saw 5% growth from the first quarter and the numbers are likely to pick from here over the next two quarters of the year. This growth has also been supported by the new laws introduced by the Real Estate Regulatory Agency to control the off-plan sales. The new brand strategy to improve the city's image is also helping the cause.

Growing Investments and the Future

In the first eight months of 2016, real estate transactions of more than US$43 billion (AED158 billion) had been made in Dubai, according to the Dubai Land Department's (DLD) Transaction Report. In addition to this, the Real Estate Research and Studies Department also declared 38,000 sales, mortgages and other investments.

In the months of June, July and August, 2016, the market picked up really well and saw transactions of a combined value of AED 60.5 billion. Property sales contributed to 46% of the total amount, with more than 28,077 deals done during these months, accounting for about AED71 billion. Land sales accounted for AED58.5 billion in the city.

The introduction of new real estate developers in Dubai's market, such as Shapoorji Pallonji Real Estate, which offer luxurious accommodation with environmental friendly amenities, will definitely give a boost to the market in the coming days.

If you are planning to invest in the real estate market in the near future, then Dubai should definitely be on the top of your list of preferred residential destinations.

10 Ways to Bank Safely Online

Online banking is convenient, but how safe are your online habits? We present 10 ways to bank safely onlilne.
Though the Internet has eased the way we conduct our banking transactions, it has also opened the gates to a slew of theft and hacking activities all over the world. Online banking is largely a secure exercise, but it is vulnerable to fraud and phishing attempts despite your vigilance. Your bank may also put in place several security controls for your safety. Still, it is always prudent to be safe by following these 10 safe online banking habits:

1 Never reveal your login credentials to anyone. You may receive a call ‘from your bank’ asking you to verify your card number and PIN – ostensibly as a security exercise. Do not part with the data and note down the caller’s details and number. Notify your bank immediately of such a phone call. No bank authorises its personnel to ask customers for confidential information.

2 Beware of phishing attempts. Phishers are adept at redirecting unsuspecting customers to fake sites that trawl your information and start stealing from your account. If you receive an email/SMS from your bank asking you to avail of a special offer or sign up for a new product, simply delete the email and block that web address.

3 Do not respond to emails from persons claiming to be employed by your bank. You might receive personalised emails from a person who signs off as your bank’s employee, informing you of special privileges and reward points. The email will contain your bank’s logo and other marks to make it look as authentic as possible. Remember: your bank’s promotional emails will not have any clickable links in it.

4 Do not click on banking links in third party sites. Many of us are used to clicking on links in online articles, emails and newsletters that direct us to third party sites. Do not click on ANY banking-related links in any material you find online. Just visit the bank’s Internet banking site to conduct all your transactions instead of clicking third party links.

5 Bank from a secure terminal. This is an important habit to inculcate. You may bank using your smartphone or your personal laptop, but NEVER bank from an open Wi-Fi connection or a publicly shared terminal. Even when using your personal digital devices, be sure to log out of the site or app every time your transaction is finished.

6 Do not verify your details when an email asks you to. You might receive emails asking you to ‘verify your details’ as part of your bank’s customer verification norms. No bank asks its customers to verify their details on emails; this process is done on the bank’s Internet banking platform directly.

7 Sign up for two-factor authentication. If your bank is serious about your online banking safety, it will incorporate the two-factor authentication in its sign in process. It might seem cumbersome every time you log in, but it is essential.

8 Change your password every month. It is always safer to change your password as frequently as possible, and verify it using an OTP sent by the bank. Make sure the password is an alpha-numeric one and is hard to guess. Never include your name, date of birth or phone number in it. Also, set a couple of security questions with secret answers in case you need to recover your password.

9 Enlist for SMS alerts. Every transaction that takes place via your account, however small, must instantly be recorded and sent to you via SMS. Your bank will set up an SMS alert system for you, which is helpful to track your account’s activity. You will know at once if somebody attempts to use your cards or log into your account without your knowledge.

10 Activate anti-virus software on your computer. A good anti-virus software detects malware and hacker attempts. It will also alert you in case a log in attempt was made from a browser or location that you normally do not use.

Which are the best brands of incontinence products?

Incontinence products that give you completely dry coverage and the confidence to step out of doors, are the best ones to choose.

If you suffer from urinary incontinence, you are probably frustrated about living with the embarrassing condition. Don’t be – it can happen to anyone, and there are ways to live with the condition and lead a full and happy life.

The first step in living comfortably with incontinence is acceptance. Accept that you have a condition that could be cured at some point in time, and move on. The second step is to find a range of excellent incontinence products that can help restore your life to its previous routine.

What are incontinence products?
These are a range of wearable items that help absorb the involuntary leakage of urine and prevent it from staining the clothes. Incontinence products absorb the urine and prevent it from coming out again. Thus, they are discreet and let their wearer enjoy their life and move about freely even with episodes of incontinence.

They are mostly in diaper and underwear form (both men and women) or sanitary pads (for women). Other types of incontinence products include powders to apply on the skin so that there is no chafing or irritation. These powders can also mask any odours, if present.

How to pick the best brands of incontinence products
It pays to test a few well known incontinence products on yourself instead of buying into marketing spiel and picking the wrong items. Consider the following checklist when picking incontinence products for yourself or a person you care for:
  • ·         It must be made of soft cotton, bolstered on the inside by fluid-repellent material so that the urine is locked in and kept away from the clothes.
  • ·         It can be in underwear form, diaper form or sanitary pad form. Choose the shape and fit that is best suited to your body shape and size.
  • ·         Try wearing the product under your normal clothes. If there are unseemly bulges and lines, the product is either too large or too thick. Pick the correct size and try again. If it is still visible from under your clothes, it is the wrong choice.
  • ·         It must be easy to wear.

Different types of Skin Problems, Symptoms, Prevention, and Cure

According to a survey published in the Saudi Gazette in April 2016, 65% of women in Saudi Arabia suffer from skin ailments, along with more than half the children in the country. The study also revealed that while the variety and frequency of skin conditions might vary, the most common cause is the volatile climate of the Kingdom, with extreme weather conditions that include high temperatures and lack of humidity. The situation is not too different in other countries in the Middle East. Here’s a look at some of the most common skin problems experienced by people in this part of the world.

Acne is one of the most common skin problems, where the oil clogs the pores on the skin, leading to pimples. It can appear anywhere on the face, neck, shoulders, chest or back, and comes in many forms.

Overexposure to the sun and UV rays increases the risk of skin cancer. This disease damages the fibers in the skin, called elastin, which results to the tearing and breaking off of the skin. The damage may not be visible at a young age but starts to show its effect as time passes.

  • Uncontrolled growth of skin cells
  • Ultraviolet (UV) radiations from the sun

6 Best Methods to Reverse Hair Loss

According to a report by Euromonitor International, published in May 2016, hair care is considered an important ritual in the GCC countries, especially Saudi Arabia. In fact, this is one country that registered the highest growth in the sale of hair care products in the world. The report went on to say that women in Saudi Arabia spent heavily on high quality hair care products, both through retail channels as well as through salons.

While the causes of hair loss and thinning are many, some basic steps to promote growth can prove to be effective hair loss treatment. If the problem persists, it is best to consult a professional and address the problem from the root (pun not intended)! Here’s a look at some such steps you can take at home.

1.      Get a Head Massage

What do you do to make your face look good? You get a facial, right? It works exactly the same way for your hair as well. Getting a good massage can keep those luscious locks and your scalp healthy. All you need to do is apply some oil and rub it in gently for about 10 minutes. Leave it in for some time or even overnight and shampoo it off the next day. Just do it once in a week and the results will speak for themselves.

2.      Wash Well

It is important to keep your scalp and hair clean. However, shampooing too often can lead to the loss of natural oils, which are essential for hair health. Professionals recommend that you shampoo every alternate day or, if possible, twice a week. In addition, choose a shampoo that does not contain parabens and sulfates, chemicals that are bad for you and the environment.

3.      Use a Wooden Comb

One of the biggest reasons of hair fall is using an old and fine comb. On the other hand, a wide-wooden comb is more gentle and provides a massaging effect on your hair. So, replace your plastic comb with a wooden one and see the results.

4.      Exercise

Getting involved in physical activities is just as good for your physique as it is for your hair. When you exercise, sweat is released and unclogs the hair follicles to make way for new hair. It also increases blood flow to the scalp, which is essential for healthy hair growth.

5.      A Healthy Diet

Include fruits and vegetables that are rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin A, iron, calcium, biotin and zinc in your diet. Eat oranges, bananas and leafy vegetables to provide the essential nutrients for healthy growth.

6.      Opt for a Good Hair Loss Treatment

If you experience continuous hair loss, then don't be shy to consult a specialist. This is the only way you can identify the cause and receive the right hair loss treatment. Make sure you choose an experienced and trusted clinic for best results.

How to Ensure a Healthy Menstrual Cycle

Did you know that a woman is expected to have 450 menstrual cycles on average in her lifetime? Ideally, a cycle lasts for 28 days, so you can imagine that for a large part of your life, you'll have to tackle extreme emotions and the sudden rush of hormones.

Although this is a natural phenomenon, lack of knowledge and certain lifestyle habits can lead to various health related problems. In fact, according to a study conducted by Ibn Sina National College for Medical Sciences, Jeddah, about 21.6% women in Saudi Arabia suffered from Oligo and 21.3% reported polymenorrhea. Another problem, dysmenorrhea, accounted for 60% to 90% of the cases of absenteeism from schools.

Bloating, mood swings, painful cramping, etc, are common during the menstrual cycle but people often mistake them as 'normal' which isn't the case.

Tips for a Healthy Menstrual Cycle

  1. Decrease Sugar and Caffeine Consumption
Sugar, alcohol, tea and chocolate have one thing in common. All of them are inflammatory and can lead to many of the problems mentioned above during the periods. They increase the estrogen level in your body and turn you into the Hulk in just few minutes. So, try to reduce the amount of sugar and caffeine you consume during this time and observe the results for yourself.

  1. Avoid Cold or Raw Food
Cold and raw foods require extra effort to digest and can even weaken the digestive system. The temperature can also constrict the flow of Qi and blood, which can lead to several menstrual problems. The uterus is highly vulnerable to cold weather and surfaces, so try to avoid swimming in cold water and dress properly during the winter. This will help with menstrual cramps and infertility.

  1. Exercise
Irrespective of your medical situation, you should always exercise to stay fit and healthy. During your menstrual cycle, do not involve yourself in extensive workouts but do ensure some easy exercises, such as Yoga and stretching. They will help you achieve better blood flow and also ensure that you get enough rest to relax your muscles.

  1. Manage Stress
Stress can disrupt the hormone signals, worsening the situation. Take out some time from work, go out with your friends or get involved in activities that you enjoy. It will have a positive impact on your mental and physical state.

  1. Choose the Right Protection

If you suffer from painful cramps or endometriosis, regularly avoiding the use of tampons is recommended, since they may cause blood stagnation. Instead, opt for a sanitary pad made of a material that suits your skin type. Choosing the right sanitary product can help you stay clean and dry, and therefore remain healthy.

Beauty On The Move: Travel Tips

Ever wonder how fashion models are able to jet set around the world and still look their best, no matter how many miles they have behind them? When it comes to you, does the act of getting from here to there leave you looking like a train wreck? If you are planning a weekend road trip, an annual holiday, a business trip or just looking forward to some vacation time, here are our top travel tips.

5 Office Beauty Tips
1. Research the destination: Know the climate and weather in the place you are travelling to. If it is going to be hot and humid, plan for cleansers, wipes and sunscreen. If you are going somewhere cold and dry, pack the moisturiser, chap cream and hydrating agents.

2. Hydrate in advance: It is important to keep your body and skin hydrated at all times. Not having the correct water balance will end in you showing up with a dull complexion and flaky skin.

3. Test at home: Don't wait till you have arrived in a strange town just to find out that the new sunscreen does not agree with you. Use your products a couple of days in advance or stick to what you know works from past experience.

4. Get the hard work out of the way: If there are any time-intensive procedures such as hair removal, facials and even a simple manicure or pedicure that you need, it is probably a good idea to get these done before the trip. Besides making your skin feel cleaner, hair removal will also give your skin a glow. If you are planning a long trip, you can always pack something like Veet Wax Strips with Easy Grip.

5. Keep it light: Understand that everything that is on your dressing table cannot be packed and taken along with you. Especially if you are flying, all those tubes, bottles and jars can get pretty heavy. Stick to the basics like cleanser, sunscreen and moisturiser.

6. Multitasking products: Opt for dual-purpose or multi-purpose products like a sunscreen that also removes excess oil from your facial skin or moisturising cleansers.

7. Ziploc safety: It is easy to have oodles of different things that don't fit neatly into box-like shapes. Keep plenty of Ziploc bags and pouches of different sizes handy. Cabin pressures above 20,000 feet can do funny things to liquids in bottles and tubes. Ziploc things to keep them safe from spillage.

Best Throat Infection Remedies

Throat infection can be caused by various factors, including viruses, bacteria and fungal infections. It can be very frustrating because even if only a small part of the body is affected, it does impact your entire day. You can’t eat and drink as easily and you tend to feel tired more easily. The good news, however, is that you can get rid of such problems with some simple yet effective throat infection remedies. Here’s a look at some of them.

This is a proven traditional remedy for a sore throat. The anti-bacterial properties of honey help speed up the healing process. It is easily available and affordable. All you need to do is add a teaspoon of honey to a cup of hot water or have it with herbal tea.

Salt Water Gargles

The most effective and easiest way to relieve pain and inflammation of the throat is to gargle with hot water that has some salt dissolved in it. Make sure you gargle at least twice a day or more if the pain persists. It will soothe your throat, and in case you have postnasal drip, increase the frequency.

Hot Fluids Give Relief

Switch the cold beverages for hot ones, such as tea, coffee and soup. Ginger tea is one of the best options in this situation, since it is known to flush out toxins from the body and boost blood circulation. The anti-inflammatory properties of this beverage also help in killing the bacteria. Make sure you keep your body hydrated, since the lack of liquid will only increase the irritation in the throat.

Medicines and Adequate Rest

Most of the times, throat related problems are cured with time and proper rest. So, make sure you get enough hours of sleep at night and try to take a nap during the day as well. Don't participate in too many exhausting activities, since this could lead to a worsening of the pain and irritation.

If the symptoms are not severe, take nonprescription medicines, such as throat lozenges or sprays, that offer instant relief from the pain. If the problem lasts for more than a week, consult a doctor and take the prescribed medicines.

Turmeric and Water

Studies have revealed that turmeric is a powerful antioxidant and has the strength to fight off many serious diseases. Dissolve half a teaspoon of salt and half a teaspoon of turmeric in hot water and use it to gargle. It will give you quick results.

If the situation doesn't get better in few days with these throat infection remedies, don't hesitate to pay a visit to the doctor.

How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs

In 2007, two girls in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Jeddah, died because their father used an industrial insecticide, not meant for home use, to kill bed bugs in their home. This was one of the most tragic incidents of the year and while the two of his three daughters lost their lives, the third one had to be hospitalized.

Bed bugs are known for injecting an anti-coagulant chemical in the blood, which prevents clotting, allowing the bug to suck the blood till the time it wants to. And while they are a major problem in the country, using products sold at the local stores might not always be the right solution. The products used to kill them should be from a trusted brand and the directions for use should be read carefully before use.

If you are wondering how to get rid of bed bugs, here are a few easy steps.

Prepare the Area for Treatment

Remove the clutter from the bed to make the inspection of the area easier. This is the first step and makes the rest of your work easy.

  • All the furry items, such as stuffed animals, soft toys and blankets, should be removed and cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. Make sure you don't transfer the bugs with them.
  • Remove all the drawers and desks from the bed and inspect the area thoroughly to make sure no bugs are hiding anywhere.
  • Use a flashlight to expose them from tight spots.

Inspect Thoroughly

Most of the bed bugs are about ¼ to 5/8 inches long and are hard to seen with the naked eye. Their flat shape makes it easy for them to hide in gaps and spaces in the bed. So, use a magnifying glass to better spot them. The best wat to find them is to look for the eggs. The eggs are normally found in the areas close to where the host sleeps.

Treat the Furniture

This is where the elimination process begins. Use spray liquid insecticides or aerosols and:

  • Spray around and under the bed. After removing the drawers, the insides need to sprayed as well.
  • Wash the bed sheet, pillow cases and all the clothes kept in the drawers.
  • Spray around all the doors, windows and the furniture of the room, like tables and chair.
  • If there are any posters or frames in the room, spray them as well.
  • Spray the whole frame of bed as a precaution.

Do not apply the spray to any of the mattresses or furniture where people are sitting. The first rule of how to get rid of bed bugs is to remove all human beings from the area being treated.

Flu Concerns in Saudi Arabia

According to the Saudi Gazette, influenza is among the most common diseases that appear during the winter season. The influenza virus affects 30% of all children and 5-10% of adults in Saudi Arabia. The higher levels of prevalence of this virus in winter is caused by the fact that low temperatures and higher levels of humidity during this time provides conditions favorable to the virus.

How Easily Flu Spreads

Influenza is highly contagious. It can spread from direct contact as well as breathing contaminated air. It takes barely minutes for the virus to take hold after coming in contact with an uninfected person. The maximum period of incubation of the virus is two days, during which symptoms of fever, running nose and coughing, headaches and body or muscle pain and fatigue and nausea are common. Those segments of the population who are above the age of 65 as well as children below the age of two are particularly susceptible to the virus.

There are three types of seasonal flu that are categorized as type A, B or C. Type A flu virus is further classified into two types, AH1N1 and AH3N2. Most flu vaccines focus on type A and B as type C flu virus is less common. There is a difference between the child flu vaccine and adult flu vaccines. Children between the ages of 6 months to 8 years that have never had the vaccine before require two doses.

The trouble with treating or preventing the flu virus is that if one family member falls sick, that person can very easily (and usually does) infect the rest of the members of the family. Since the virus spreads through direct contact, simple actions such as using a TV remote, using a door handle and pressing an elevator button can be conduits for spreading the virus.

Flu Precautions in Saudi Arabia

Influenza vaccines are the primary weapon against flu. In Saudi Arabia, the vaccine is recommended during winter season. The Saudi Thoracic Society (STS) has created the Scientific Committee for Influenza and Pneumococcal Vaccination (SCIPV) guidelines based on international recommendations on influenza vaccination best practices with special attention for specific situations like the Hajj and Umrah. The Saudi Ministry of Health has mandated that pilgrims are to be vaccinated against seasonal influenza before their arrival into Saudi Arabia, especially children against child flu. All persons aged above 6 months of age, including pregnant, and breastfeeding women must be vaccinated.

Ketchup is so yum…and it’s here to stay!

The good old tomato ketchup has the reputation of being a painful food to erase from your clothes. We present a sure-fire way to get rid of ketchup stains.
You’re about to bite into a really delicious-looking sandwich you just made. You take a hearty bite, closing your eyes to savour the taste of meat, veggies, herbs and sauce in it. But when you open your eyes, you see something so nasty that all thoughts about your sandwich are driven out of your head: you’ve spilled ketchup on your shirt!
Oh, the horror! But you haven’t seen anything yet. When your back was turned, your toddler smuggled your ketchup bottle and took it away to his room to ‘play with’. Then he squeezed ketchup on his face, his clothes and the floor. Wading through the mess, you looked with dismay at his clothes – and at yours. ‘Our clothes are doomed’ you thought, because ketchup always leaves a stain.
Not if you get in there first.
The key to getting ketchup stains off your clothes is to take quick action so that the stain does not set. Once set, ketchup will always leave an orange discolouration behind. So you will be forced to junk your stained clothing.
But if you want a good ketchup stain remover routine, try these steps in the same order as presented:
·         Rinse the clothing at once, with cold running water. Flush the stain at the back, turning the fabric inside out.
·         While still wet, treat the stain to a liquid detergent and tamp with your fingers. Let it stand for five minutes.
·         Flush with cold water till the detergent is completely washed.
·         Blot white vinegar on the stain. Let it stand for five minutes.
·         Flush with cold water. Now repeat the above steps till most of the stain is removed.
·         Treat the stain with a fabric stain removal system. Use as directed on the package. Let it stand for at least half an hour, then wash in the washing machine.
·         Make sure the stain is completely removed before you put the clothing in the dryer; otherwise the stain will set permanently.
Some dried stains might require harsher measures to be completely removed. Use bleach if your clothes can stand the abrasive nature of the product. You might need to use bleach in your wash after the garment has been treated to the above steps.

There are excellent stain removal liquids and powders available today – these are effective ketchup stain removers, and they work on a variety of stains, from grass to coffee ones. The trick lies in taking quick action and using the right product to protect your clothes from stains.

8 points that define your personal finance goals

We present eight ways in which you can create a sound financial plan for yourself and your loved ones.

Life has a way of throwing unexpected twists and turns in your path. But instead of fretting over the future, it helps to be financially prepared for life’s unpredictability. Consider the following ways to plan your financial future:

1 Set goals and act on them wisely. No dream is ever accomplished without a goal, and the same is true of personal finance as well. If you want to have an extra Dh 10,000 every year, you must proactively save money every month and follow that plan diligently. Create a financial roadmap for the year that includes all the major financial milestones you wish to achieve and act on it.

2 Explore your bank’s personal finance products. Your bank has many useful personal finance products for your use. Your personal banker may also advise you of new products and services from time to time. Sign up for products that help you further your financial aims.

3 Save to invest. Merely saving money is not enough – it must be invested in the right instruments to create wealth for the future. Visit your bank to get more information about the best investment avenues for your age, risk appetite, income and lifestyle. Creating the right investments helps augment your money for the future.

4 Spend within your means. This is an important habit that every person must inculcate: spend only what you have. This applies especially to credit card spending, in which people tend to spend beyond their means. Use debit cards instead of credit cards, and set a spending limit for yourself every month.

5 Settle all bills within due date. Not only does settling bills on time give you brownie points with your utility service providers, it also gives you a good credit score. Be sure to settle all payments on time so that your finances remain in check and you do not need to pay late payment penalties. Settling credit card bills on time is most important.

6 Buy insurance for the future. Taking an insurance policy that covers you and your loved ones is an important personal finance decision. Not only does it provide life coverage, it also ensures your family’s financial safety in case you are absent from their lives.

7 Insist on the family following good financial practices. Not just you, your partner and children must also be careful about spending money. Discourage all wasteful spending habits and teach your children how to save money. Children are quick to emulate their parents, so it is never too soon to impart lessons in personal finance.

8 Plan your retirement. This is a crucial step in your financial journey. While you pay for your family’s dreams and make sure each of your loved ones is well cared for, you must also ensure that you have a comfortable sum of money laid away for your retirement years. Your retirement planning must include having a home for yourself and your partner, as well as monies from investment and pension plans to take care of your expenses.
