Only two billion of the world's seven
billion population own washing machines, said Hans Rosling in one of his TED
talks. The rest of the five billion
still wash their clothes by hand, thus living below what he calls, the “wash
line”. The people laundering by hand could be professional washerwomen or they
could simply be the women of the house, but the fact is that it is mostly women
who take on this grueling task every week, says Rosling. A small way in which
to make the task a little less grueling is to use products, like a good stain remover, which
reduces physical effort considerably.
Some Useful
Stain Removal Tips
Chocolate stains: The first thing to do is to scrape off as much of the chocolate as
possible. Then wash the stain in cold water from behind the stain. If the stain
has dried in, it is advisable to soak it in warm water with an effective stain
remover like Vanish Oxi Action Power.
Coffee stains: This is a common stain on the clothes of most office goers as the rush
to work with disposable cups of coffee every day. The best way to tackle this
stain is to not let it dry. By blotting out the stain from the fabric and
refraining from rubbing, you can prevent it from smearing further. Then soak
the clothes in warm water with a powerful solvent before washing it out.
Make-up: You get distracted by applying your mascara
and suddenly instead of being on your lashes, it is on your collar. It happens
to most people. The best way to get it out is by immediately removing most of
the make up with a tissue, and then applying a stain remover directly onto it.
Vanish Oxi Action Gel is a very good choice for this. A useful make-up stain removal tip is
that do not try to scrub it off with plain water as it may leave an oily mark
on the cloth. This will make it more difficult to remove the stain.
Grass Stains: This is one of the toughest stain to battle. However, one of the
best ways to go about it so to soak it in warm water before pre-treating it
with a cleaning agent. It is best to work from inside out to get the stain out
of the fabric so as to prevent it from spreading.
Therefore, when equipped with the know-how
and the right cleaning agents, no stain is unbeatable.
